Natarajasana, or Lord of the Dance Pose, is a fascinating yoga pose in various aspects.
Balance poses are essential in our Sivananda Yoga sequence.
We are getting grounded, increasing our focus and concentration. The dancer’s pose is a beautiful combination of a balance, backwards-bending posture, which strengthens the standing and the bent leg, and opens up the front of the body. Keep your upper arm beside the ear, and don’t bend forward. Pull your back leg with the other hand and try to straighten the leg simultaneously; this will open your chest. Make sure you are practising on both sides.
I love to teach outdoors at the Charlton Lido & Lifestyle Club in Greenwich, London. All my students are so passionate.
